Salutations coaches!
Here are the rules and regulations for our long-awaited SASOBOWL III tournament, which will take place on Sunday, August 31st, 2025, at 1 p.m. Note: Be sure to check back here for updates and important news leading up to the event.
Tournament Entry:
Entry to the tournament is free of charge. However, to compete, all participants must have a Strategicon weekend, day, or at least a single event pass (available for purchase at the door for $15). Get your Stategicon Gateway Con pass today, or arrive early enough to secure a day pass and be ready to play by the starting time.
Preparation:
All Coaches are required to bring their own decks of cards, fully prepared and ready for gameplay. The tournament organizers will provide game boards, components, and any necessary expansion shop items and cards.
Age Recommendation:
While the game is recommended for players aged 13 and up, we welcome participants of all ages. Those under 13 must have permission from a parent or guardian to attend.
Tournament Rules:
All official tournament rules will be in effect. Coaches will receive their rankings, based on previous tournaments and events, prior to the start of SASOBOWL.

SASO-Rush is in full effect!
To help move things along, the adrenaline-charged "SASO-Rush" rule is returning for this year's SASOBOWL! In this electrifying game mode, each coach will have an individual game total of minutes (via chess clock) to execute their strategies during the SET and Audible Phases.
• 1st Round - 20 minutes
• 2nd Round - 17 minutes
• 3rd Round - 15 minutes
The timer may be started by the defense the moment the offense begins drawing cards, setting the stage for a high-stakes race against time. Once the offense is locked in, they tilt the timer switch, throwing the defense into a frantic countdown of their own. This back-and-forth battle of time continues until the hike phase, in which the clock is then paused by the offense. The Hike and Conclusion phases remain untimed, offering a brief respite before the clock starts ticking again. Note: Drop phases and Cypher Goal attempts are not timed.
In the SASO-Rush, every second counts. If a Coach runs out of time, they automatically lose the game, and the game is considered a zeroed-out victory for their opponent.
"SASO-Rush" turns every play into a pulse-pounding race against time, where quick thinking and flawless execution are the keys to victory. Are you ready to face the rush?

12+ TEAM TOURNAMENT
$1000 PRIZE POOL
• 1st Place: $800
• 2nd Place: $150
• 3rd Place: $50 (determined by highest points scored)
Double Elimination Rules
- SASO-Rush rule in effect
- Binary Tul Shop in play
- If needed, bye-rounds go to the next highest-ranked coach ( Your rank will be listed before the start of the tourney)
- Overtime rules: The first team that scores a touchdown or Cipher goal wins and ends the game. If a game is tied at the end of this overtime, the game continues with another overtime.
Championship Round
- Expansion Binary Tul Shop in play
- Full standard game time (No SASO-Rush)
- Tournament overtime rules. Playbook cards are returned to their decks. The first team that scores a touchdown wins and ends the game, or whichever team has the most points when this half ends.
- If a game is tied at the end of this overtime, the game continues with another overtime.

8-11 TEAM TOURNAMENT
$600 PRIZE POOL
• 1st Place: $500
• 2nd Place: $75
• 3rd Place: $25 (determined by highest points scored)
